Zukav - The Seat of the Soul
My life is dedicated to the birth of a new humanity. That birth is now in
progress. We are all involved in it. The new humanity is being born inside us. We are
awakening to new perceptions and new values. These are leading us to new goals. n Our new
perceptions are that the Universe is alive, wise, and compassionate. It is a friendly
place, not the violent, merciless place that we have often made our small part of it. Our
new values are the values of the soul harmony, cooperation, sharing, and reverence
for Life. Our new goals are authentic power the alignment of the personality with
the soul and a planet without conflict. n Your soul is much more than your
personality. It is the essence of who you are. It existed before you were born, and it
will exist after you die. We are beginning to understand that all that we choose, create,
and experience is part of a learning process. That process serves the evolution of our
souls. This is the heart of the new perception that is transforming the human experience.
This is multisensory perception, the ability to see and experience far beyond the
limitations of the five senses. Our species is becoming multisensory very fast. n This
emerging multisensory humanity has needs the thirst for harmony, cooperation,
sharing, and reverence for Life. Current social structures cannot meet these needs, and
so, they are dissolving. We are creating their replacements seven billion of us,
together. Let us do it in wisdom, joy, and love. Gary Zukav
For the many people who read The Seat of the Soul a decade
ago, and drove it to the bestseller list then, Gary Zukav was a clear and prescient voice
introducing the concept of soul. His simple, elegant prose touched the lives of hundreds
of thousands of readers. Now, ten years later, a new generation of awakening has begun to
find The Seat of the Soul an invaluable guidebook for the study of the spirituality of
human experience and the endless possibilities of human perception.
Organized in a lucid and very accessible way, The Seat of the Soul takes the
reader on a journey of enlightenment, beginning with the seeds of self- and spiritual
awareness, and moves through the mechanics of spirit: Intuition, Energy (Light), and
Intention. Zukav then guides us toward the responsibility of the soul, toward the
evolution of authentic power. The books closing chapters are profoundly
insightful yet very direct, dealing with the responsibility of and the nature of power and
what it means to be a truly powerful human being. Zukav charges the reader to align
your personality with your soul and move toward becoming a being of the Light, fully whole
and empowered and inwardly secure. Humbleness, forgiveness, clarity and love...take root
and bloom, and you draw to yourself the Universes greatest gift: human beings with
open hearts.
The Seat of the Soul was originally titled Physics and Consciousness.
Using his well-honed ability to explain abstract scientific thought, Zukav intended to
write about the parallels between quantum physics and psychology. In the process, he
became less interested in the science and totally absorbed in the physics of
the soul. He says, I learned to listen to what the Universe wanted to
share with me. Then I began to share it with others.
Zukav, a graduate of Harvard University and a former Green Beret officer who served in
Vietnam, raises several key issues in The Seat of the Soul. He questions the value of
traditional Western spiritual philosophies in light of the seeming lack of meaningful
human evolution. Describing the importance of understanding the non-physical reality of
spirit, Zukav contrasts what he calls the five-sensory human, who puts mind
over heart, with the multisensory individual, who has evolved to align the
soul with the personality. He also relates this philosophy to the socio-political state of
the world, opining that the Earth is a single living entity with a soul Gaia. While
the themes he discusses are not entirely new, Zukav has obviously tapped into a thirsty
collective consciousness that touches readers in a deeply moving way.
