Your Next Step in Abundance
Part 1 of 3
When I facilitate a class Im often so excited about it, and the results, that I want to share it with everyone, ergo this column. Im going to make this a three issue series because there is so much to cover and even then, you must realize that 2100 words is not going to be able to encompass a three-hour course. It will, however, give you many good tools to use and its up to you to use them. So now, start thinking about areas in your life that youd like to increase your abundance.
In increasing abundance, were doing energy work which is shifting our awareness, releasing the negative or unwanted beliefs, reprogramming ourselves with our own truth, and letting the universe know our desires. That can be a big shift in your world and its easier to accomplish when you start with a meditation and some clearly stated affirmations. Expect to spend thirty minutes or more working with the tools and guidelines presented here.
Close your eyes; get comfortable and quiet. Sit in a chair with your feet on the floor and allow yourself to come into the present moment. This energy work is doing and being, but never forcing, rushing or using effort. Focus on your breath, without changing the rhythm. Simply be a spirit in a body, breathing. Notice the breath as it comes in through your nostrils and your body as the diaphragm expands. Then as you exhale, notice the relaxation of the diaphragm and the breath again as it flows out your nostrils. Again with the next several breaths, allow yourself to easily follow each breath. Start to observe what is happening in your space. What does your body communicate to you? Are you energetic or tired? Is there a pain, or a muscle twitch, or an ache somewhere? Its okay; let it be; just take notes of it; observe without criticism. Now check in with your emotions. Are you anxious, happy, enthusiastic, and apathetic? Observe all your emotions/feelings of this present moment.
Check in with your mental activity. Is your mind busy and chattering, or is it quiet and still? Is your mind sifting through the past: I should have done this, that, and the other? Is your mind leaping into the future: What will I fix for dinner or what time will the children be home? Is it criticizing you or affirming and validating you? Once again, be an observer, a witness, to these activities. Ground yourself by making a mental picture image of a pipeline that connects your first chakra (energy center at base of spine) to the center of the earth. Make the pipeline as big around as your body, and any color you choose. Use paper clips bubble gum or bolts to firmly anchor this pipeline into the center of the planet. This is a tool to use in your everyday life that will assist in making your body safe and releasing unwanted energy or programming. From Julian, a co-teacher, I learned to have fun with this grounding cord by dropping a marble down it, watching gravity pull it to the bottom, and listening to it ping or clank or clunk as it hits the sides of the pipeline. Then I drop four or five marbles and enjoy the noise. Then a whole handful or a whole bag full of marbles. Now as you drop marbles down your grounding cord, let each marble be a bit of the energy in your space that says: You cant be affluent; You cant increase your wealth without years and years of hard work; Youll never amount to anything because you dont have a degree, or because youre too fat or because youre shoe size is too big or because youve only got five toes on your right foot. (What?) I added that last comment to show just how preposterous are some of the reasons you are not able to increase your abundance. Theres always an excuse for not changing - what are your excuses and are you ready to turn them into marbles (or bowling balls) and throw them down the grounding cord? This type of energy work is always simple, fun, and no effort. The results can be astounding! While youre at it, throw anything down that grounding cord that tries to tell you its not simple or fun.
Good job! Its time to check in with you. Focus for a couple of minutes on your breath and come into the present moment. Perhaps your mind wandered down a path of the past as you were finding and releasing some of the old issues. Thats okay, just focus again on the breath, and shift your awareness to your breath, and to purely being. Check in with your body. What does your body communicate to you now? Is it the same or is it different from when you started this exercise? If its different, how is it different? There are no right or wrong answers; allow yourself to merely observe. Now check in with your emotions. What are you experiencing now? What is different and how is it different? Observe, breathe, and toss a few more marbles down the pipeline. Observe what your mind is doing. How is your mental activity the same or different from when you started? Observe, breathe, and toss a few more marbles down the pipeline.
After releasing old, unwanted beliefs and programming, its important to fill your body and aura with your own energy. With your eyes closed, create a golden ball of energy over your head, start with a ball the size of a basketball. Let this energy be your own creative essence, 100% you. Now direct that ball of energy to be a magnet to bring back to you any energy you have left scattered hither, thither and yon. We often leave energy at work, in past relationships and at favorite vacation spots. You might have thrown some anger energy at the driver who cut in front of you on the freeway. Some of your energy could be in the future. Right now it doesnt matter where it is, or why, just knows that it can come back to the golden ball over your head. Use your psychic eye to see that golden sun, and watch it as it gets bigger and brighter. Reach up and feel the energy. Then pull that golden sun into your space, filling your body with it. Let every cell of your body have a sparkle of that gold. Let the golden energy go into your aura and completely fill it. Shine up the outside of your aura and own that this is your space. When youre finished, stretch your arms up then bend over and stretch your arms so that your hands touch the floor or your toes. Straighten, open you eyes, and smile at yourself.
The word abundance means "an ample quantity". If you tell universe that you desire abundance, the universe may respond: "Oh, look at Donna - she wants abundance. Well, she already has an abundance of bills, Ill give her even more of those, thats probably what she wants". Oops! Its time to get clear about what you desire. The universe is more than willing to bring us whatever we desire, but it is up to us to state it clearly. One effective way to do this is to create a treasure map. On a poster board (the bigger the better) start pasting pictures of things you desire to bring into your life. If you want a happy family, put some pictures of happy families on it. If you want money, tape some money on it, or pictures of lots of money. You can use play money to symbolize the real currency, and put up the BIG denomination bills. One girl in class put a page out of her checkbook on the poster. It showed checks she had written for items she desired, such as living room furniture and airline tickets, and showed a remaining balance of several thousand dollars. If you want to travel, paste on pictures of the places you want to see. Be creative. I recently updated my treasure map, and was able to find an "Architectural Digest" magazine that had everything I wanted for my map: pictures of a young Jimmy Stewart and a young, exceedingly handsome Burt Lancaster for my relationship corner of the board, as well as some pictures of couples enjoying traveling. I cut out pictures of the types of homes and rooms that I like. The same magazine had pictures of Greek columns (a personal symbol of knowledge or wisdom), exactly that for which I had been looking. (Ill tell you, I was grateful for the abundance I found in that magazine!) I also have several affirmations on my poster. One of my favorites, from Louise Hay, is "Energy, enthusiasm, and sparkling health are my birthright. I accept these priceless treasures with gratitude."
Your homework this month is to create your treasure map. Enjoy the process of creating it, and put it up where you will see it often. Write on it: "I deserve this now!" It is a reminder to your conscious mind of these things that are now coming to you, and it assists you with re-programming your subconscious. Also, spend at least 20 minutes each day in meditation using the grounding cord. What can you release from your space?
(1) Your parents concepts of abundance or wealth (or lack or it),
(2) Beliefs that are not your truth, such as: Money is evil; Rich people are crooks; I am always in debt; You cant be spiritual and rich; Money only comes from hard work,
(3) Any programming in your space that says, "I don't deserve".
Check in with your body, emotions and mind several times during the meditation. If you reach a place of stillness, take the time to enjoy it and know that this is as much a part of you as is all the frantic, frenetic activities of your mind and life. At the end of your meditation, be sure to fill up your body and aura with your own energy from a golden sun. Write down all the new abundance in your life both the great and the small.
Enjoy the month!
