In conversation the other day someone asked me whether I thought he should finish Feng Shui-ing his apartment, or should he simply move to another apartment. He had been working diligently on his current space, but suddenly felt deeply compelled to move. Another client had just finished putting all of her Feng Shui cures into place at her office when she received word from her landlord that they would not be renewing her lease. She was initially a bit distraught. I, too, have had the experience on more than one occasion of just nicely getting everything in perfect Feng Shui order and, surprise! Time to move again. What is going on here?
Often our first reaction might be to think that something is going wrong. But actually, powerful Feng Shui will bring radical change into your life, including a better place to live or work. Dont be dismayed if this happens to you. Youve simply outgrown your current situation and are being moved on, literally, to a space that reflects the changes that youve made. I have never known anyone who has gone through this experience to end up with a new place that they were not absolutely delighted with.
My goal with the Feng Shui Forum, as I stated in last months very first column, is to provide an avenue for people to share their personal experiences of Feng Shui with others. And it was to this end that I shared one of my clients discoveries as she shopped for inexpensive cures for her home. My apologies to the metaphysical store owners who were offended by this mention of "bargain basement" Feng Shui. Please know that I, as well as the other Feng Shui practitioners that I know, regularly refer people to your stores for Feng Shui items.
I am in the process of compiling a list of local Houston shops and individuals who carry Feng Shui supplies. I intend to offer this list to every client I work with, as well as to hand it out in the monthly class I teach. If you would like to be included in this handout, please fax me the name of your business, your address, phone number, and a brief list of Feng Shui items that you carry. I recently ran into a very handy Feng Shui travel kit made by Phyllis Nold of Houston. Her number is 713-621-3739.
Speaking of travel, I will be writing next months column from Maui, Hawaii, where I will be taking a week long intensive for advanced students and practitioners. I am very excited and grateful to be able to take this training, and am looking forward to sharing the experience with all of you. One of the things I love the most about this field is that there is always more to learn!
One question that people often ask is, "What can I do to prepare for a Feng Shui consultation?". One of the cornerstones of Feng Shui is cleanliness, simplicity, and order. Go through your space and clean everything until it sparkles. Another essential step is to go through everything you own and get rid of what you are not using. Clean out all of your clutter. A simple exercise that I use is to ask myself, "Does this bring me great joy now?", or on a practical level, "Have I used this in the last three months?".
As you work with this exercise you will initially discover how much youre holding on to out of obligation or fear of not having something in the future. It is absolutely amazing how much lighter and happier we become as we let go of the things in our environment that do not bring us joy. The next thing that you will discover is how "magically" things will reappear in your life if at sometime in the future you should really need them. You will come to live in a space of trust and abundance. Your constant experience will be one of needs met, surrounded by beauty, aligned with the harmonious flow of energy in the universe.
And so, until next month, many blessings and much happiness. To participate in the Feng Shui Forum, please fax me at 713-861-9243, e-mail me at joani@wt.net, or call me at 713-861-0903 with your questions or contributions. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
