Satisfying the Soul’s Longing
for Divine Love

Each of us performs hundreds of actions every day. For
example, we may play with our children, go to the movies, hike in the mountains, or
prepare delicious meals. We experience the momentary pleasure that activities such
as these give us, but we don’t consciously understand that while performing such
activities, our soul is desiring for one result: perfect, unlimited happiness, beauty, and
love.
This longing for perfection comes from deep within us; from a place beyond the mind –
our soul. Our mind picks up our soul’s constant yearning for perfect happiness, love,
and beauty, and translates it into a longing for material acquisitions and
entertainments. We mistakenly believe that our inner longing can be satisfied with
worldly or psychic pleasures. But no amount of worldly or psychic gratification can ever
console our spiritual heart. This is because our inner self can only be fulfilled by
Divine love, which is the original and eternal longing of our soul.
How can we experience Divine love and the perfect happiness that we seek? The way is
actually quite simple. The guidelines are available in the Divine writings such as
the Gita, Upnishads, and Bhagwatam. They explain that the way to achieve Divine love is
through loving remembrance of the Divine names of the loving Form of God, because they are
imbued with the full omnipresent power of Divine Grace.
To meditate and receive Divine love vibrations, you should first bring your mind to your
heart and feel centered there. Then, remember the chantings of the
Divine names in your mind or sing them aloud and feel the Divine presence near you. If you
practice this with love and faith every day, your awareness of God and experience of
Divine love within your soul will gradually heighten. Sincere remembrance of the Divine
names through meditation and chanting opens your heart and leads to an understanding of
your eternal relationship with God and to the experience of the omnipresent power of
Divine love.
The beauty of Divine guidance provided in the Vedic scriptures is that it reveals
the simple truth regarding our constant search for unlimited happiness. What we discover
as we add their teachings in our lives, is that the perfect love and beauty we’ve
been searching for have always been available from the ultimate source of perfect love and
beauty – our eternal Divine Beloved.
