Your Next Step in Abundance
Part 2
by Donna Carlson

Have you created your treasure map? Last month in this column, I discussed how important it is to get clarity on your wants and desires.Your thoughts, mental image pictures, and the words you speak create the energy (through your chakras and into your aura) to magnetize these objects and experiences to you. Creating the treasure map can assist you in disciplining your conscious mind (thoughts) to affirm that this is now what you are creating in your life. It also assists in re-programming your subconscious so the energy of old patterns dissolves and new patterns are created.

In last month’s "class" we used a grounding cord to assist in letting go of any limiting patterns you got from your family/friends/peers, any old excuses you’ve used or beliefs such as "I am always in debt" or "I don’t deserve." Use this tool to continue to ground any limiting concepts or thoughts out of your space. How much of this old programming have you already found? Often I will find my programming just by listening to others—their complaints and negative words or their gratitude and positive words. Listen, without judgment. Listen and find similar patterns in your reality that you can change.

While in meditation, you can create a mental picture image of one of your desires, attach a grounding cord from it to the center of the earth to drain off any energy that keeps you from having it. This picture is called a mock-up. Besides beliefs such as those just mentioned, there may be other energies that you have allowed to interfere with your mock-ups. Sometimes we allow other people to exert control on us—maybe we want to be accepted, or we believe that we shouldn’t have something more or something different than our family or friends. I used to avoid (and resist) any sort of competition. Unfortunately, that allowed any energy of competition to easily affect my ability to create. Now as I ground my mock-ups, I also shift my awareness of "competition" to the truth that there is unlimited supply in the universe. It is also important that you release any attachment you have to these desires, so simply ground out of your mock-up any of your energy that says "I need" or "I have to have." If you take a close look at the energy of "I need," you can see that this makes your creation come from lack and puts the result always in the future, never bringing it into present time. Re-program your thoughts and words to be "I want even more," creating an energy that comes from abundance and attracts more abundance.

Now that you have cleaned the unwanted energy from your mock-up, put a bright colored bubble around it and send it out to the edge of the universe to manifest. Be open to any avenues that the universe may use to bring these mock-ups to you. If you have a fixed idea of how your desires must manifest, then you are limiting the universe’s ability to bring it to you.

When I was a minister, and continuing my training in spiritual healing and clairvoyant reading, I was working about 30 hours a week in a temporary clerical position. I truly liked the position I had. Besides enjoying the work, the staff and the manager of the department thought I was wonderful and truly appreciated my work. Could I want for more than that? Well, yes. I wanted all of that, but I wanted to have a greater income so I could get an apartment of my own and become more financially secure. You can see that I didn’t want to rock the good boat I was already in. I decided to keep my mock-up really simple: I visualized my checkbook, grounded it, and visualized larger deposits and a greater balance. It was totally up to the universe how this would manifest, because I certainly had no idea how it would happen. At the job, I started working with some new ideas to make the invoicing much easier and more accurate. I showed my results to the manager. She showed it to the home office because she wanted this idea developed, but didn’t want her branch office to have to pay for it. The home office hired me to develop it (at 2.8 times what I was making), plus I got to do the work at the same branch office where I was already working. In other words, everything stayed the same except the income. It was almost unbelievable, but I was ready to accept this abundance into my life and I was grateful for it!

I like to share the above experience of creating abundance in income because it was one of the simplest energy exercises that had the most astounding results. It is an example of no effort, no attachment to the outcome, no expectation of how the result was to be manifest.

I often stress the importance of grounding yourself to make your body safe as you open up your psychic or spiritual abilities, but look at what other things you can do by using the grounding tool! It is a simple, effective way of changing the energy in your own space, which subsequently changes your life. I also want to emphasize how much gratitude can make changes in your life. Where you put your attention is what increases, so keep your thoughts and words focused on the positive aspects of your life, the positive things you desire. That does not say ignore your bills, because we know what happens if you don’t pay them, but shift your awareness while you write out those checks. Be grateful for what you can pay; be grateful that the utility company or the phone company or the mortgage company has belief in your ability to pay. Shift your awareness to see that these companies are affirming your abundance and that you have the ability to affirm and assist with the abundance of others. When it’s time for the offertory at Creative Life Church, Dr. Jessie Jennings expresses the gratitude of the Church for the offerings so that many others will benefit as the energy of money is cycled and recycled. This shifted my awareness and I now see each bill I pay as benefiting the employees of the company, not just paying "a company." In a more direct manner, a waiter gets a tip or an entrepreneur gets to expand his/her business; it truly gives me joy. Another extraordinary thing I learned at Creative Life Church is to affirm the abundance of others by saying, "I am grateful for the good in your life." When I speak those words to others, I become more aware of the oneness of us all, more aware of the energy within me that is truly the source of us all, and more aware of this power of creation.

Your homework is to (1) continue your good work with grounding, incorporating some of the suggestions of today’s column to create your mock-ups, (2) reclaim your life force with a golden sun as we did last month, and (3) count your blessings—be grateful for the good in your life and in the lives of others. I keep a gratefulness journal, as suggested by Sarah Ban Breathnach in her book Simple Abundance. Every night I list at least five things for which I am grateful. It does not even have to be things that are a part of that particular day; of all the things in this abundant world, list five things for which you are grateful. Do it for the next two months and pay attention to the changes it makes in your life.
