Meditations with Douët:
Journey into the Rainbow

There is an incredible mystical artist named Arthur Douët who many of you already know and love. My partner and I were privileged to have produced a guided meditation video, Meditations with Douët — Journey into the Rainbow, featuring Douët. It was an experience that has transformed our lives.

Arthur Douët is, without doubt, one of the most remarkable human beings on this planet. There are those of us who preach spirituality to ourselves and to others and then, a few hours later, froth at the mouth and lose our composure at the bumper-to-bumper traffic in rush hour. Or maybe we say nasty things about the Visa/Mastercard interest rates or the #*&**## IRS.

But not Douët. He walks the talk we all yearn to do. He never criticizes anyone or bad mouths a single soul. Somehow, he manages to see the good in every person and every situation. I believe he sees the true spirit and eternal in everyone. Maybe it’s because when he paints those gorgeous paintings and portraits, he is seeing only the best part of us — our beautiful spirits.

He does this so much, it carries over into his daily life. In the months it took to create Journey into the Rainbow, my partner and I spent a lot of time with Douët. We stayed in his home for days and learned what this man is truly like. For most people, watching their furniture and their life style being totally rearranged to accommodate cameras, TV monitors, lights, cables, a sea of other electronic equipment, and two stressed out producers is, at the least, a traumatic experience.

But with Douët, only kindness, patience, humility and loving words emerged from a wonderful human being. He is truly an angel among us. There are many ways to meditate — most people only know the kind with their eyes closed. My partner and I wanted to create a visual meditation to portray the beauty that we often see with our eyes closed. We also wanted to create a video that could actually induce a meditative state and stimulate the viewer with such incredible images that it would influence them to connect with Spirit and see the beauty of all that surrounds them.

Our goal was to inspire and help the viewer come closer to the loving energy our heavenly universe has to offer. So, who better to write a creative visualization than Arthur Douët.

With the poetry of his words and the sound of his lyrical Jamaican/French accent, we first recorded his voice on an audio track last year in our studio. Months went by as crisis after crisis in our own lives seemed to prevent us from starting the actual video production. Then, one day this Spring, we talked with Arthur; and suddenly we knew it was time to begin, and we did it feverishly! We drove to Austin and began shooting — Arthur’s paintings, nature scenes, and the great Douët himself. Back in Houston, looking at Douët’s paintings, we realized the video we were producing demanded to be as cosmic and spiritual in feel as Douët himself.

So, we worked night and day for months, creating images of our universe (that even NASA hasn’t seen yet) that would complement his mystical art, creating a sound track of special effects to enrich the meditational experience and open the creative centers of the brain. And open them it does. Many, many people have reported changes in the way they see their environment and the colors around them after watching this program.

Douët says of this video, “. . . as we visualize the seven colors of the rainbow spectrum, it impresses a healing effect on the subsconscious, facilitating balance and enhancing creativity.” I once asked Arthur where he got the ability to transform the spiritual energy that surrounds us all onto paper and canvas; how he is able to show people visually what it is about them that is Spirit. He said, “When I was studying painting in Paris many years ago, I became aware of this unseen reality that is beyond the surface of things. I had a great desire to paint in such a way that people would sense the inner depth of things. And to go beyond the surface appearance of the five senses to appreciate the full dimension of who we are, to project the awareness of the Divine Presence so that the picture radiates that sense.”

It is our sincere hope that we have projected this awareness of Spirit as well as that of Arthur Douët in our video meditation tape. If we can help viewers connect with the divine oneness and open their heart center to others, we will have fulfilled our mission with this video.
